Stade Toulousain, a rugby institution

Toulouse aspires to be the capital of French rugby, a sport played in an atmosphere not to be missed.

The legendary Toulouse team, Stade Toulousain, has enabled the city to acquire worldwide fame in sports. The greatest rugby players in the world come to live in the pink city to practice this legendary game. Toulouse's game philosophy is well-known worldwide, all the way to the shores of New Zealand: home to the All Blacks.

Rugby arrived in the region in the 19th century and was first played in the city's universities. The traditional team colours are red and black, in memory of the former capitouls, or sheriffs, who were municipal councillors.

During your stay in Toulouse, and depending on the season, be sure to attend a match at the stadium to watch this legendary team play. Take advantage of the 'third half' and head to the Rouge et Noir, the official supporters' bar with unique decoration that pays tribute to the local club. Spending some time with the friendly fans of this iconic sport is guaranteed to be a welcoming experience - supercharged!
