Restaurante Mee: gourmet Asian cuisine

Restaurante Mee: gourmet Asian cuisine

An institution in Copacabana, where the flavours of Asia flirt with the peaks.

The restaurant in the Belmond Copacabana Palace, located just off the famous swimming pool, is among the first Latin American restaurants to have been awarded a Michelin star. It is also the first Pan-Asian luxury restaurant in the city. The decor is chic, with lovely banquettes and a gallery of portraits by the Belgian artist Christian Develter. Led by the BBC's cooking-show star Ken Hom, the kitchen mixes Thai, Cambodian, Malaysian, Singaporean, Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese influences. Besides the excellent sushi bar and sublime yellow-marble countertop, you come to Mee for Thai spicy salad with mandarin orange, an incredible selection of dim sum or the Shanghai braised pork belly. To accompany these dishes, order from one of 25 sakes imported from Japan, as advised by the only sake sommelier in the city.
