The Pigneto neighbourhood has seen an accelerated gentrification. A former working-class suburb, slightly dodgy, it has in just a few short years become very trendy. The same is true at Necci dal 1924, the former haunt of the filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini, who appreciated the bar's proletarian authenticity.
Now it attracts families by day and hipsters at night. For many residents, however, the place is still a spot to escape from the tourist hordes. This is a great place to be at any time of the day or night, ideal for a morning brunch, a quick lunch, a tasty and comforting snack, or an early evening aperitivo that very often stretches on past midnight. All formulas work well in good weather the outdoor terrace is one of the nicest in town. If it is grey, no matter, the colourful vintage interior will make you forget all about the weather. The menu features simple and delicious dishes concocted by Ben, the most Italian of Englishmen. The octopus salad and burgers are to die for, accompanied by a glass of wine or a cocktail.
