One of the major works of the renowned photographer Nan Goldin, the series The Ballad of Sexual Dependency is being exhibited at MOMA, New York's ultimate cultural institution. This slideshow of 700 intimate pictures of the artist scrolls to the sound of Maria Callas and the Velvet Underground, primarily featuring pieces chosen with friends. From the first images, which date from the 1970s, to the most recent, we see a comprehensive overview of Goldin's life and work, as she and her generation struggle with drugs, AIDS, and violence, and are photographed in intimate moments of ecstasy, pain, or love… It's a summary of the major themes explored in her highly acclaimed career.
