The Takamaka Valley in eastern Réunion is in the municipality of Saint- Benoît, the second largest municipality after Saint-Paul, and is a veritable earthly paradise. You can get there along the Marsouin River where fabulous hiking awaits the more athletic.
Considered one of the wettest places on earth, the Takamaka Valley has a hydroelectric dam upstream of five waterfalls: Arc-en-Ciel, Surplomb, Petit and Grand Gingembre and Petit Cimetière. Its lush vegetation, extensive rivers, spectacular waterfalls of several hundred metres and towering rocky peaks make this idyllic place a veritable Olympus.
Peaking at over 800 metres, Takamaka Valley offers a wondrous perspective where you have the opportunity, when skies are clear, of seeing the impressive Piton des Neiges and the incredible Mafate Cirque.
