You do not know what a "crampotte" is? Under the reign of Napoleon III, heyday of Biarritz's fishing harbour, the crampotte in Gascon idiom described a "small house" where fishermen used to rest and store some equipment.
In the 1930s, one of these, the Crampotte 30, became a local landmark for its picturesque quality among boats and seagulls. It is easily recognisable by its green shutters and red tables.
